I took a break tonight from trotting :) I don't want to overdo it and my shins are still a little sore, but nothing like it was before. I found some strengthening exercises specifically for them and I like them very much! I can actually feel it in the muscles there.

Going shopping tomorrow, again. I really want to find some hair combs, but I don't know where to look without spending an arm and a leg, or giving my money to the chinese beauty shop. Definitely don't want to do that. Maybe some place like Claires? But that means I have to go to the mall. Man... I don't want to do that either! Or, I can buy a glue gun and whatnot and do that stuff myself.

I haven't been using my Sylar mood theme... I dunno, sometimes I'm just slapping up an imprompt post and leaving it at that. All before I was finely crafting what I wanted to say... oh well.

And, I wonder if I should join Starfleet. I mean it's only 15 dollars for a year, that's pretty cheap. I really don't know what you get for it, other than the personal satisfaction of being in Starfleet and taking Vulcan Science Academy classes. :D

Well I've used the Head to Toe Honey Wash and while the smell wasn't exciting, it did lather pretty well and was moisturizing. That's a plus. I used the whipped pudding as an after bath moisturizer and while it smelled great at first application, yummy and chocolate, it soon became sticky and cloying as it sat on my skin. Not cool and I'm not a fan. Ahh well Oyin, you've failed. And I really, really wanted to like you. You seemed so fun and so cool. But now that I've gotten to know you, I take it all back.

Now, I'm being swayed by wanting to try Anita Grant's stuff. Part of my wants to jump into the product junkie fray, part of me just wants to stay with KBB. I mean AG's stuff will be mad expensive with the currency exchange rate, and will probably take a long time to get here as well. And man, if I hate the smell, then I'm going to be doubly upset. Too bad she doesn't have a storefront, maybe the next time I'm in England, I can stop by and smell and if I like, stock up. Ha, that probably won't happen so, oh well.

That reminds me, gotta get some more KBB. At least she's in the states and can supply quickly. I like that very much.

Oyin Handmade

Well, I finally got my complete order from Oyin, and I say finally because it did take two weeks to get everything. Well, more than two weeks, but that's neither here nor there. I have 9 items in total and out of the nine, I'd say that I like (off the bat) three. Eh... four. I'm not *that* keen on the Juices and Berries, but it's merely ok. Upon first blush, I think the Greg Juice smells like a bad cleanser, like Pine Sol or something. The honey wash really isn't that great smelling and my biggest disappointment was the scent of the honey hemp conditioner. Oh, youtubers raved about the scent of that and how marvelous it is. I don't doubt that it works marvelously, but the scent... doesn't really make me happy. I was expecting something much better. It smells like old chocolate and old cheap chocolate at that.

Now, I may rescind those statements, as I have not actually used them on my person, so I'm witholding complete judgement until I do. But for now, upon initial sniffing, Oyin Handmade, you do not impress me.

Having said that, I DO like the burnt sugar pomade, whipped pudding (mmm chocolatey) and the shine and define. Funny thing about the pomade and the S&D; putting the S&D on and then the pomade produces a weird smell, but rubbing them together and then applying smells better. Eh, who knows.

So, the clear winner is Karen's Body Beautiful. Not only does she deliver in a very timely manner, her scents are delicious and the product works well on my hair. I still have to find the right amount of product to use though. When I first got it, I'd saturated my hair and the curl was loose and a bit limp. This time, I'd just used a bit of the hair milk (which I'm already running low on!) and some of the Oyin products. The hair is soft, but not as "wet". I can still feel some of the product on the hair, but it's much drier than it was the first time around. So, I think I'll have to put on just a little bit more and perhaps strike a balance. I wonder what the freebie friday will bring, because I definitely will be ordering more from KBB. I think it's cool that she has these free giveaways and coupons. I mean, the stuff isn't *that* cheap, so every bit helps, especially if you're saving on shipping and what not.

It's unlikely that I will be ordering from Oyin again, but if anything it would be the pomade and maybe the shine and define... though I didn't see much shine to the hair. I might be able to produce the same effect with some 100% Aloe gel. So, if I can find that, I'll be ok. I've seen some 99% Aloe gel, wtf? Eh.

Anyway, I was thinking about getting my brow pierced. I probably will not, because I don't want to be fired. So I may just get the ears pierced again. I keep saying that I want to, but I never do it. *shrugs*

There's a new photo of Zoe as Aisha. Man, she looks great!

Maybe that's Cougar in the background??? Fab. I can't wait for the movie. I hope it doesn't suck. Yeah, that's hoping for too much there. Speaking of black actresses, why didn't anyone tell me that Gabrielle Union and John Cho are engaged in that show Flash Forward?? I have to see this!!! Damn. Now I have to sign in and download those episodes. Let's hope they don't just make me mad. TA!

Wow, Seriously? I order stuff one day apart, 30 orders in between them and still no email? Hm... Now, unless I really like this stuff, and will order in bulk and re-order before things run, our or I will exclusive stay with Karens. At least that stuff got to me in a few days. I want my stuff! *pouts* Or, if I like it, I might take a trip down there and stock up. Or apparently Curlmart has them? But they might not be fresh, so... since they're pushing this freshly handmade for each order, then I'll be patient.

Sunday, October 4, 2009

Oh, I forgot. I got my, or well, part of my order from Oyin. Since I ordered it one day apart, I don't know why I expected to get it one day apart. But anyway, I got an email saying that it had been shipped and the next day I got it. Sweet. With some candy included (which promptly tossed) but it was a cute gesture. I wouldn't have eaten it anyway, because I have no idea where it came from :)

So, once I receive the entire order, I will use and review. So far, I got the burnt sugar pomade, which smells delicious, the after body oil in black cedar fig. I can't stand the smell of it. I tried it, but as it wore on, it started giving me a headache. Bleh! While I'm sure it's a great product, I'll have to get it in another fragrance! I also got the juices and berries spray and the shine and define. J&B smells horribly strong in the bottle, but once you spray it out into the air and onto your hair, it smells good. Fruity and light. The shine and define smells good too, kind of like I had expected it to smell, funny enough. Citrus-y. Now I'm glad that I god the Greg Juice and not the Frank Juice since FJ was supposed to be "manly" and spicy. If it's spicy like the black cedar fig, then ewww!

Friday

It's been an interesting week to say the least. But what can I say? Wholly not tempted by eating sweets... except granola and I bought some greek yogurt. It leaves a bitter film on my tongue as an after taste. I guess it's something you have to get used to, but this shit's too expensive to try and "get used to" that's crazy. It's nearly two dollars for a little container. Maybe I need to wait for it to go on sale.

I am going to work tomorrow to use the printer to print out comics and photos of Zach and Zoe. Haha. I just need to finish up with the losers, because I hate rushing into work early hoping to beat people there in order to use the printer without getting caught. I've only got a few issues left (ones I really don't care for) but at least I'll have the entire set... minus those two issues where I just couldn't stand the artwork! I couldn't stand it. I don't think I even bothered to read it it was so horrible. Eh, anyway, that's the plan, and then I'll finish up some other work and head off to Target and Kohls for clothes and organizing things.

I will go to the laundromat on Sunday morning after I sort everything that needs to be washed, get quarters, detergent and something to eat and to read.

The finger thing... as you can see, I've stopped announcing days, but I'm still doing what I promised myself that I would do, so that's not a problem. So the finger looks to he healing up. I've seen some progress so I have hope that this will be the product that works for. I've tried other things, but haven't stuck with them long enough to see if they worked. See, I'm honest :)But this one is convenient and is a type of gel that stays on and dries quickly. So I'm not messing with a cream that I have to rub in or a liquid that spills all around. I'm pleased.

I got a letter from Oyin saying that my first order has shipped. I wonder if they put two and two together and noticed that I placed two orders. I mean how many orders can they possibly get in 24 hours. *shrugs* So I expect another letter tomorrow, or at least Monday about the next order. So yeah, it was about 12 days, which is ok for me. I'll see if I like the stuff, and then place a larger order to stock up with. Then I can see if I want to keep up with Karens or not. I mean Karens ships fast. Within days. This place is slower, sooo... I may pick and choose depending on what I feel works. I like Karens on the third day of a twistout. The first and second days, the hair is still very moist and kind of limp. But that all may be due to the amount that I'm using. I love the smells and my hair is still very soft and still! moisturized. If I had been still using that stuff I used to use the ORS crap, my hair would be dry as brush.

I'm almost out of the hair milk. I'll have to switch to the little sampler bottles I have in the meantime. I still have a lot of the condish, the hair cream and buter. I also have a lot of jojoba oil left. I've been scouring dollar stores for plastic spray bottles, but they only have the large kind. Which is surprising. I had expected to find small bottles. *shrugs* I guess I'll have to check out Target, because I refuse to give my money to those Chinese people at the beauty supply place. They've taken enough of my money.

I had gone to bed a little while ago, but now I'm awake. I think I'll go back to bed. It is late. And because it's still Zoe week...

The hair still looks good! I am very pleased with how it turned out. Very pleased. I will try the lighter Hair Milk which is the Hair Nectar, to see what kind of result I'll get. But yes, the hair was very soft and moisturized and did not frizz up (much) throughout the day. Happy-dance. I have a big problem with my hair drying out and frizzing up during the day. So this definitely helped. Yay.

I am totally considering deleting my POF account. I mean the fucking loser jerks that email me are pathetic. I mean the gall of some people. They think they can say anything to you, like you're not human or something. Fuck those ugly fat mother fucking motherfuckers. From this moment, I will not give anyone a chance. If you don't look good, screw you. I won't say, "mmm well, he might be a nice guy, why don't I give him a chance." No, I won't do that. Not anymore. FUCK YOUUUU!

Day fucking Twenty-two

Day two

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Wow, I keep saying this every week, but where has the week gone?! It's nearly Thursday. I'm trying out a new... substance for my jacked nail. We'll see how it's going to work. I have to give it three months, I think, three months daily. I can do it.

Anyway, I got my Karen's Body Beautiful stuff today and I have to say, after using the Deep Conditioner and the hair milk and the hair butter, that I'm liking it. I don't really like the smell of the luscious pear in the deep conditioner, but I like the conditioner itself. I can always get it in another scent, or unscented. Surprisingly, she did send along samples where I could smell the scent in the form of little lotion tins and I really liked Egyptain Musk. I thought that would be the only one I wouldn't like. I do like all of her scents except Vanilla Lavender. I've never really liked that scent. I adore the vanilla latte, which I did NOT like in the beginning. I thought it was too almony smelling... but it soon morphed into something spicy and citrus-y and yum. And I figure I can mix the pear with the cranberry. The cranberry cocktail smells awesome and the white tea smells like, well white tea. I wasn't surprised with it. It was nice.

Now, I'm awaiting Oyin. I hope that I like it as much. I should be finished with this Karen stuff by the time Oyin arrives. So, for the record: loving the hair butter and the hair milk and the deep condish. Prolly try them in the E. Musk. I got a hair cream and a hair nectar and the luscious locks to try. Oh and the shampoo bar. Yay. Go Black owned businesses, I support you.

Oh and DAY TWENTY ONE!!

My goal is to reach one month and then assess my situation. Am I stable enough to have a little chocolate and not go overboard? How do I feel about cutting out refined sugar as a next step, no sugar in coffee/tea, no white bread, no jelly? Then moving next to less meat. I'm not fat, but I really lost a lot of fat and was pretty gaunt when I cut out meat a while back. It was kinda scary.

And because the counting days works so well for me I'll start another *fingernail* one.

Day One :)

Am right now downloading the two hour Heroes premier. Like I said, I didn't want to sit through watching commercials last night and someone is always ready with the DVR and a passion to upload a copy. LOVES THEM. Oh, speaking of uploading.... FINALLY someone uploaded a reportedly good copy of Star Trek. Says it's a DVD-like rip. So maybe now people won't be using that over cropped version to make all their little fanvids. Yes, Spock does have a top to his head! Uhura didn't really have that problem unless she was in the shot by herself, because everyone was so much taller than she was, we got to see all of her :)

I'm actually feeling pretty good today. I mean after all that stressing over the weekend, I guess I should be. I can't wait to get my Oyin stuff. I wish I was still as excited to get the Karen stuff, but definitely excited about Oyin. I'm even considering taking a drive down to MD for it. But... I'll make myself wait, since I did pay for it online already. I wonder if I can cancel the order if I show up at the store. Or... can I pick up the order if I'm there! That would be even better. I should inquire about that. That is, if I feel up to driving. It is three hours to even get there from here. I might just wait for it. Or, I might get the driving bug and just go, who knows. It's getting colder, so I'm less likely to be inclined to do a lot of driving. In the summer, yes, totally out there, but now... maybe not so much.

I'm just worried that I won't like the products and then I'll be mad since I spent so much. But if I do like them, all the better.

DAY TWENTY

Hair Post

I have a goal of growing my hair to waist-length. Right now it's mid-back wet and unstraightened. I don't perm or hot comb my hair, so as a natural I measured by stretched hair. Anyway, I'm trying this June Carter products and I must say that I dislike her product line. First it stinks and the shampoo which is supposed to be gentle and moisturizing really stripped my hair. You know that ultra squeaky clean feeling where your hair is rough and doesn't slide through your hands, that's what it was. Ugh. I like a little slippage and I don't need my hair to be that squeaky.

I wouldn't buy the stuff again and it was on the expensive side at that so no thanks. My sister makes hair products now so I'll just go with that.

Sunday, July 5, 2009

It's Sunday!

Shit, I'm all over the place with this blog thing. At first, I had been concentrated in one area, now I've branched out talking crazy. Love it.

I'm going to use 100% raw shea butter on my scalp and do a two strand... probably fat twists. I don't know how fat, but I'll have to dig into the beautiful wildness that is my hair and find out. So, I'm going to pop in some Heroes... rewatching S1 (yay!) Spikey haired Sylar.... and getting to it.

bah, I have to work in the morning. The little three days that we had off are OVER! NOOOO...
