Wooo! Spock is the man, man...

I just watched Star Trek: The Motion Picture last night. Thirty years old that movie is, and it was still pretty well made. The graphics and action sequences were imaginative and seamless. I thought the older cast looked pretty good as well and I still can't get over that stiff, geeky walk Leonard has going on. He walks like his hips hurt or something. He's almost got a "bop" down, but not quite. And he's always walked that way, so I can't blame it on age.

The Shat on the other hand still had that "Saturday Night Fever" walk. I always hear that Bee Gees song playing every time he's strutting down the corridor. Love it. Admittedly LN did look a bit weathered, in comparison to the rest of the crew, which I will chalk up to him being thin (and not the reportedly hard living). He's always looked a bit older than his years due to the lack of fat in his face, in my opinion, so we'll leave it at that. Honestly, he looks much better now at what, 78, than he did 30 something years prior. In the early 70s when he was rocking Paris, he looked great and then, something happened in between that and the filming of the first ST movie. What happened? I don't really care to know. Though, I'm happy that it looked as if he started taking better care of himself as he got older.

Anyway... the whole romance angle got on my nerves and the googly eyes Decker was giving Ilia at every possible moment accompanied by the swell of sickening soupy music. It had me rolling my eyes. Gah! Will it end!? Some of the scenes went on way too long with too many reaction shots of the crew. Like, they'd show the action happening outside the ship and then a shot of Bones taking in a breath, then back to the action outside and then Spock raising a brow, then a shot outside the ship then Uhura widening her eyes then a shot outside the ship and then Kirk leaning forward then a shot outside the ship and Sulu glancing around... well you get the concept. STOP!! We get it already. *laughing*

All in all, it was an entertaining flick, but the BEST, best part in the whole movie was where Spock was just being Spock. The probe V'ger sends to the ship is zapping at the computer, accessing the ship's files and Decker's futility trying to turn the computer off. He's shouting that the computer has been disabled by the probe. Suddenly Spock shoots over to him, grabs him by the arm, yanks him aside and clasping both hands together... BAM!!! he smashes the computer console.

Holy fucking god, I burst out laughing. Oh My God! I wanted to dance around like crazy! Oh Spock, I love you so, so very much. It was something so unexpected, but something SOOOO Spock. He's always been a man of action. *LOVES*

But then the V'ger probe zaps him! *gasps* My poor baby!!
